About IST

Industries Services Training was established in 1994 in response to growing requests from industry for flexible training, assessment and licensing. Since then, IST has developed into the largest private training provider in the Northern Territory specialising in the provision of services to industries including civil and general construction, mining and transport and logistics. IST delivers its programmes and services throughout regional and remote areas of the Northern Territory and beyond, including, China, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. IST has the capacity and experience to develop and deliver industry specific programmes quickly and cost effectively.

Location and facilities

IST operates from a purpose-built corporate facility located in Winnellie, Darwin, NT, Australia. This site is located in the heart of Darwin’s industrial and manufacturing area. Our facilities consist of a large two storey air-conditioned suite of offices, training and conference rooms. The facilities also encompass a large industrial warehouse and adjoining land which houses the organisations suite of modern commercial, mining and industrial equipment. All five classrooms are equipped with modern audio visual facilities and can accommodate up to 100 students at any one time.
IST owns and maintains a fleet of vehicles, trucks buses, heavy civil plant, building and construction hardware to support its training and assessment activities. Our premises have easy access to public transport links with plenty of on-site client parking available. You can find a map to our premises here.

Accreditation

IST is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) (National Registration Number 0860) and complies with the Australian Quality Training Framework 2007. This accreditation ensures that the training and assessment provided by IST meets National standards enforced by Government. IST undergoes routine and ongoing audits by independent government appointed auditors to ensure it abides by these National Standards.

IST is approved by the Northern Territory Government to deliver a broad range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) throughout Australia. IST is also endorsed by the Northern Territory's Motor Vehicle Registry to deliver training and practical assessments for a broad range of vehicle and truck licences.

Industries Services Training has delivered a pre-employment training programme in conjunction with Total Development Supplies to train and support 15 Indigenous job-seekers to transition into employment in the construction industry. Over 70% of programme participants have already commenced an apprenticeship!
